A Rhino Records prepara-se para editar um amplo compêndio musical para assinalar os 60 anos de carreira de Aretha Franklin. Entre êxitos e raridades, a versão deluxe de Aretha vai compilar um total de 81 canções e chega às lojas no dia 30 de Julho.
A 25 de Março de 1942, nascia em Memphis, Tennessee, aquela que viria a ser coroada como a Rainha da Soul. Do coro da igreja para a Columbia Records, “Today I Sing The Blues” foi o seu primeiro single para a companhia discográfica, entretanto adquirida pela Sony, e é uma das primeiras faixas a surgir no alinhamento de Aretha Deluxe Edition, apenas antecedida por “Never Grow Old” e “You Grow Closer”, os dois registos mais antigos que encontramos na colectânea.
Em 1967 muda-se para a Atlantic Records e dá início a uma jornada de lançamentos clássicos, da qual resultaram algumas das obras mais importantes do cancioneiro americano. Entre álbuns como I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You, Aretha Arrives, Lady Soul ou Aretha Now, podemos encontrar aqueles que são os temas mais bem cotados de sempre da diva, como “Ain’t No Way”, “Chain of Fools”, “Think” ou as suas enormíssimas reinterpretações de “Respect” e “Satisfaction”.
A celebração dos 60 anos de carreira da cantora acontece numa altura em que o seu percurso foi recuperado para a terceira temporada de Genius e Respect, uma longa-metragem biográfica que se prepara para aterrar nos cinemas.
Em Aretha Deluxe Edition, as memórias são musicais e consistem num alinhamento de 81 canções remasterizadas, entre elas os originais que fizeram história nos álbuns e nas rádios, mas também demos, interpretações ao vivo, versões alternativas, inéditos e outras raridades. Além da grande box de quatro CDs, está prevista também uma edição standard de Aretha, em CD ou duplo LP, que consiste em apenas 20 temas.
