Directamente de Compton até à Biblioteca do Congresso norte-americano, o álbum de estreia dos N.W.A. será agora preservado juntamente com outros registos sónicos marcantes na história dos Estados Unidos da América.
O anúncio foi feito ontem pelo organismo que visa imortalizar as gravações “culturalmente, historicamente, ou esteticamente mais significantes” com, pelo menos, 10 anos. Straight Outta Compton preenche todos esses requisitos e é tido, um pouco por todo o mundo, como um marco importante na história do hip hop. Além da introdução ao gangsta rap, o disco também desempenhou um papel marcadamente social, retratando na perfeição o abuso do poder policial e o racismo.
Depois da entrada no Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame no ano passado, “o grupo mais perigoso do mundo” volta a somar nova distinção importante. Podem ver a lista completa com as obras escolhidas em baixo:
